I don’t wanna talk about talking
'Cause that’s boring and I’ll stand by that
Yer gonna break that chair by rocking
But that’s what it’s supposed to do
And I believe in that, and I’ll die on that hill
Yeah I'll die on that hill
I'll die on that hill
I'll die on that hill
It’s not a far walk home but it’s just far enough
and I’m sweating through my favorite shirt
Yeah we need a boogeyman to blame for all this distress
Because otherwise it’ll hurt, and I’ll feel like American dirt and it feels like...
It just feels like American dirt
and it just feels like American dirt
and it just feels like American dirt
and it just feels like American dirt!
The neologist inside me has taken some rest
The bug that I’m squishing is beneath my feet
It makes me feel guilty, they’re so much like me
And if I was that useless pest
I’d want you to think before you step on me
Within the limited bounds of my brain
I’m just a character I portray
And if I were to stumble through the same fallacies
I hope you would absolve me
Before you step on me
Contrary to common ignorance
You can’t be judged for what you can’t rinse
We were all once like that, on both sides of that coin
I broke my thermostat last winter
So fuckin frigid where I’m at
And I don’t know who to update
When all my plans are falling flat
Yeah I could really use a haircut
Just couldn’t tell ya what I want
And if I were to spell it out
I’d use the most confusing font
I wanna crack my fuckin skull open just to see
Where the wires lead, they’re not where they’re supposed to be
I wanna cut my fuckin chest open just to see
What happens when I breathe, but I’m too scared to peek
I wanna sit alone all day.
Play with the friends that I’ve made in the privacy of my own room.
Light blue, Naruto poster on the wall, but I can’t remember the plot.
Oh god, what is this headache I get every time I fall asleep?
Repeating patterns clutter my mind
I cant remember, I’m just trying to unwind
The fragments.
Detatchments.
Oh god.
You know I’m trying to make this better.
Inner self in shambles 'til I find a place
for my thoughts, all my memories confused with
trauma and closure
pain versus pleasure.
I wanna see today.
Let me out and play.
I’m sick and tired of this television screen I’m forced to watch.
I wanna see today.
Let me out and play.
I’m sick and tired of this television screen I’m forced to watch.
I wanna see today.
Let me out and play.
I’m sick and tired of this television.
You know I’m trying to make this better.
Inner self in shambles 'til I find a place
for my thoughts, all my memories confused with
trauma and closure
pain versus pleasure.
Blackout on a subway,
nearly hit the A-train.
Psychological disconnect
With the walls that I built
To break down these barriers
of trauma and closure,
pain versus pleasure.
Fireworks line my mother’s ashtray so if I ever decide to light up
My whole world would go up in flames.
What a shame, I worked hard for this place.
Mother would
give me cookies and cigarette burns
to show me how much she loves me.
What the hell, gimme that pack of Misty Lights.
I’ll use the smoke to cover the mess you made.
Settle down, lie back to bed.
Let the screaming television send swirls of light into your mouth.
Maybe it’ll teach you how to use it proud.
But the fireworks are pointing right at me
tips of blue and white and teal make my peripheral radar go off.
And in the end I see a whirl
and it’s getting me down.
